TV 2 Regionerne's new publishing platform offers new opportunities as it is not bound by any kind of existing CMS logic or structure.
Oliver Wang Hansen, Chief Technology Officer at Dwarf, explains, in tech details:
"In collaboration with TV 2 Regionerne, we developed a scalable setup that is at the same time flexible enough to give freedom back to each region. The setup is built with a Whitelabel frontend solution, which provides the ability for each region to style and change the functionalities they want. The CMS is developed as a headless CMS, tailored to exactly the workflows that journalists have. We have chosen a 'lean technical stack', so both the frontend solutions and CMS are built with the same technical choices. The heart itself is built in the PHP framework Laravel, which is a large data platform based on a service-based architecture to ensure that all regions' data is not tied to other CMS or system business logic. The entire platform is conceived in a 'decoupled mindset' to ensure that the regions will be able to keep up with the technological development of devices and services, which we predict will become even more widespread in the future."
The citizens have welcomed the new regional websites. On average, the number of sessions has increased by over 10% when measuring February 2021 compared to February 2020. In addition, the new publishing system has also been well received by the editorial staff.
"The new publishing platform has made everything easier for us. All journalists and editors have gained better insight into each other's work, planning, and production of news as well as other editorial content. This also means that ease of use is the absolute best, and we save both time and resources, as well as easier workflows across the editorial boards. We are super happy and proud of the new publishing platform, which has a robust drive to change the digital culture, in having everything in one central place.", says Christophe Kolbeck, Editor of Graphics & Design, TV 2 Lorry.
Claus Ladefoged Head of Digital Development at TV2 Regions elaborates,
"As a project owner at a huge migration, like the one we at TV 2 Regions faced, the biggest fear is that you end up in an endless project. Dwarf managed to kill these fears in the best possible way, as they quickly got the first versions of the new systems up and running so that we could reach the finish line as quickly and as best as possible. Dwarf was very efficient and thorough and delivered a really good job on all the projects, both on the backend and front end. For us, it has also been important not only to have a supplier who can develop but also to have a supplier who manages to challenge our solution proposals, as well as provide our own employees with support and sparring", says Claus Ladefoged Head of Digital Development at TV2 Regions.
