Accord, the biggest music store in Denmark, aimed to bring their 80-year-old physical store into a modern time, in which used records could be managed in a PIM system and traded by an e-shop, but it seemed like an impossible dream. After many failed attempts, where everything was written down manually, Accord almost gave up on the idea to manage their stock and more than 100.000 unique titles without the right technology at hand.
”We really gave up on the idea to start an e-shop, but after a couple of conversations with Dwarf, we were convinced that modern technology could really solve our problems, like the fact that many old vinyls don’t have any barcodes, and that CDs from different decades have recycled barcodes,” says Sofie Vestergård, owner of Accord.
Dwarf and Accord then started the project, so that Accord could finally sell records all over the country by an e-shop. Sofie Vestergård elaborates:
"Dwarf is an agency that matches us really well. We are hippies, creatives, and very ‘DIY’ and we are not used to working with "the big boys". But Dwarf is not like you would think of the typical CBS boys. In front of us, we saw a solid team, that all together was a fine balance between sharp data solutions, elegant design and that ‘edge’ and creativity we needed. We threw ourselves into the project in the middle of a pandemic where everything else seemed hopeless for business – Luckily it ended really well, and it was an amazing collaboration!" - Sofie Vestergård, owner of Accord.
Mads Bie, Business Innovation Director at Dwarf, explains further:
“It was a great collaboration from the very first meeting. We succeeded in activating our different competencies - Accord in their own business, and us in the digital game. Together we lifted the task to the next level and we are really proud of the result – a result where the bigger picture is larger than the different parts together – and it has really been fun as well.
The e-shop received a great start. Especially under the Corona Pandemic, it was clear that the e-shop has been valued by Accords many customers. How the new e-shop will compete compared to the six physical shops, that we would have to wait and see in the coming future.
